LP Gas Information

What can we help you with?

Do you have a LP Gas appliance such as stove or heater that you think you might need some repair work or maintenance on? Have you just purchased a new LP Gas compatible product that you need installing? or do you need the LP gas bottles installed or checked for compliance or leaks? We can assist with the total process and ensure your home is connected and safe.

What is LPG?

This is a gas stored in gas bottles, under pressure as a liquid, it becomes gas during its connection to the appliance when in use.

What size gas bottles and how many does my home need?

Usually most homes have two 45kg bottles storing LPG

How does the gas get from the bottle to the appliances?

Tubing connects the gas bottles to a changeover valve, this valve also controls which gas bottle is in use when there is more than one available to the home. The changeover value feeds into the regulator which controls the pressure of the gas, the gas travelling through the piping to the appliances.

How do I get the regulator and changeover valve?

You can contact us to have this arranged, as you must use a licenced lpg fitter for this set-up. Contact us by looking at the details above. We can also provide the gas compliance certificate/ tag needed.

How do I operate the gas bottle change over valve?

Some changeover valves automatically switch over to the next one when one has become empty.

Manual changeover valves, with a lever, require you to manually switch between the bottles when one runs out.  Here’s how:

  1. Turn the valve on the empty gas bottle OFF by turning it clockwise.
  2. You then reposition the changeover valve lever to point towards the full bottle.
  3. Turn the valve on the full gas bottle ON by turning it anti-clockwise.
  4. Don’t forget to order a full gas bottle so you have a fresh one ready to go.
